University of Sheffield Apprenticeship and Careers Event

On 12th March 2025,  our year 12 students from  had the opportunity to attend an insightful Apprenticeship and Careers Event held at Sheffield University. This event was designed to offer students a comprehensive overview of the diverse career paths available to them, from apprenticeships to higher education opportunities.

The day was filled with engaging workshops, presentations, and networking sessions, providing a platform for students to interact with industry professionals, university representatives, and employers. Keynote speakers shared valuable advice on career development, and students had the chance to explore the benefits of pursuing an apprenticeship, which offers hands-on experience while earning a salary.

The event also featured a variety of employers from sectors such as engineering, business, technology, healthcare, and more, allowing students to learn about the numerous opportunities available in the workforce. For many of the students, this was an eye-opening experience that highlighted the many pathways they could take to launch their careers after leaving school.

Our students were particularly impressed by the range of apprenticeships & University's on offer, as well as the chance to ask questions and seek advice directly from professionals in their chosen fields. One student remarked, “It was great to see how apprenticeships could provide such valuable real-world experience while studying. It’s definitely something I’m considering for my future.”

The event also provided students with an understanding of the steps required to secure an apprenticeship or career opportunity, including tips on CV writing, interview techniques, and professional networking.

Overall, the Apprenticeship and Careers Event at Sheffield University was a great success. It gave our students the tools, knowledge, and confidence to make informed decisions about their next steps in education and career planning.
