DMU Forensics

Students in year 8 started the day in DMU forensics, with a mock crime scene where they had to examine clues and test for blood to solve a crime.  Students then had a session in the DMU school of engineering, where they got to see & interact with a giant wind tunnel in action.  Students learned about aeronautics and aerodynamics.  Students placed various shaped objects were put in a giant wind tunnel to test how aerodynamic they were.  The second group took part in a workshop about TV production.

All of the students then went to a hall with stalls from different STEM companies whom were they to answer questions about careers in STEM.  The Students got to try many types of cutting-edge digital technology, and meet engineers, scientists, and entrepreneurs from a wide range of companies in the technology industry, showcasing various careers in STEM.  A tour of the campus and a discussion about university life was given to all students to inspire them to apply for university in the future.

In the final session students came up with their own ideas and designed their own piece of technology that would have a positive impact on the world.  They then presented their ideas to everyone, and explained what benefits it would have.
