At Etone College, we strive to nurture creativity and encourage a love for self-expression and originality. Our aim within the art and design lessons we teach is to equip pupils with artistic knowledge, skills and understanding to better enrich their school lives and to see them through a journey from Key Stage 3 through to Key Stage 5. The school ethos of “Progress for All” drives all that we do as we set out to inspire and challenge our learners to develop critical and creative thinking in their practice. Pupils are presented with different ways to become visually literate with all elements of art and photography including the ability to analyse, interpret, describe and produce artworks of mixed media that adhere to the rules of the subject. This builds on from primary learning. Historical and contemporary artists provide students with the cultural insight into various art movements to ensure their learning is broad and engaging.
