Boys Mental Health

On Thursday, 28th November, during break time, Etone held a dedicated stand to raise awareness about boys’ mental health. This important event, organised by the mental health team, aimed to highlight the often, overlooked struggles that boys face when it comes to their emotional and psychological well-being. At break time students were encouraged to visit the stands, learn more about mental health issues that affect boys, and engage in discussions surrounding mental health stigmas. With an emphasis on breaking down stereotypes, the stand featured a variety of resources, including leaflets, stickers and information on how to seek support.

The stand’s main goal was to challenge the outdated notion that boys are less likely to experience mental health issues or are somehow expected to ‘toughen up’ when faced with difficult emotions. Research shows that boys, just like girls, can struggle with mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and stress, but they are often less likely to seek help due to societal pressures and stigma.

It was great to see everyone who attended, participated, and helped make this event a success. Together, we can continue to break the silence surrounding mental health and create an even stronger community here at Etone.
